2. What Data We Collect

We collect personal data only when you voluntarily provide it to us. This includes:

Contact form submissions: your name, email address, phone number (if provided), service interest, postcode, and the content of your message.

Email correspondence: any personal data you include when you email us directly.

Telephone enquiries: any information you share with us during a phone call.

We do not collect personal data through cookies, tracking pixels, or behavioural profiling. Our analytics service (Cloudflare Web Analytics) is entirely cookie-free and does not identify or track individual visitors.

3. Lawful Basis for Processing

Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), we process your personal data on the following lawful bases:

Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)) — to respond to your enquiry and communicate with you about potential architectural projects. We have assessed that this processing is necessary for our business interests and does not override your rights or freedoms.

Contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b)) — where you engage us for architectural services, we process your data as necessary to fulfil our contractual obligations.

Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — where applicable, for example if you opt in to receive project updates or newsletters. You may withdraw consent at any time by contacting us.

4. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to: respond to your enquiry; discuss your project requirements; prepare proposals and fee estimates; manage our business relationship with you; comply with legal and regulatory obligations.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling. We do not send unsolicited marketing communications.

5. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We may share your data with the following third-party service providers, who process data on our behalf:

Cloudflare, Inc. — hosts our website and provides privacy-friendly, cookie-free analytics. Cloudflare may process technical data (such as IP addresses and page views) in accordance with their privacy policy. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Web3Forms — processes contact form submissions. Your form data is transmitted securely via HTTPS and forwarded to our email. Web3Forms does not store your data beyond delivery. See their privacy policy.

Google LLC — provides web fonts (Google Fonts) loaded on this website. Google may collect limited technical data (such as IP address) when fonts are requested. See Google’s privacy policy.

Sanity AS — provides our content management system. Content and images displayed on this website are served via Sanity’s CDN. Sanity does not process visitor personal data. See their privacy policy.

Where we engage specialist consultants, contractors, or planning authorities in connection with your project, we may share relevant project information with your explicit knowledge and agreement.

6. International Data Transfers

Some of our third-party service providers (Cloudflare, Google, Sanity) are based in the United States or other countries outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place, such as EU-US Data Privacy Framework certification, Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision by the UK Government.

7. Cookies and Local Storage

This website does not use cookies for analytics or tracking. Cloudflare Web Analytics is entirely cookie-free and GDPR-compliant without consent.

We use browser localStorage (not a cookie) to remember your cookie banner preference so that the banner is not shown on every visit. This is classified as a strictly necessary function under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and does not require consent.

Google Fonts may set cookies or process IP addresses when font files are loaded. These requests are made directly to Google’s servers. You can block third-party requests to Google in your browser settings if you prefer.

8. Data Retention

Contact form submissions forwarded to our email are retained only as long as necessary to respond to your enquiry and manage any resulting business relationship. For active clients, we retain project correspondence for the duration of the project and for a period of six years thereafter, in line with RIBA’s recommended record-keeping practices and the Limitation Act 1980.

We do not maintain a marketing database or mailing list.

9. Your Rights

Under the UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Right to rectification — you may request that we correct any inaccurate or incomplete data.

Right to erasure — you may request that we delete your personal data, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain it.

Right to restrict processing — you may request that we limit how we use your data.

Right to data portability — you may request a copy of your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.

Right to object — you may object to processing based on legitimate interest.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@praia.studio. We will respond within one month of receiving your request.

10. Data Security

We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. Our website is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption provided by Cloudflare. Contact form submissions are transmitted securely.

11. Children’s Privacy

Our services are not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
